Who are we?

PU’ULOA OUTRIGGER Canoe Club, we belong to the Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association known as OHCRA and Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association (HCRA).

When are practices held?

Practices are held Monday thru Thursday and Sometimes Saturdays

Children 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm Adults 5:30 pm – Sunset (Subject to Change)

 

What do I bring to practice?

Always bring your running shoes, towel, and a change of clothes and a water bottle. Leave valuables at home.

 

Do we compete against other clubs?

Yes, we race against other Canoe Clubs around the island.

 

Who will I paddle with?

Paddlers are classified by your age and experience.

 

When are the regattas held?

All Regattas (races) are held on Sundays.

 

How long is the program?

The Season runs from April until the first week of August.

 

When is the first race held?

First Race is Sunday June 7th (see race schedule)

 

When and where are the State Races?

The State Championship is held on Hawaii, at Hilo Bay Saturday, August 1, 2009

 

What kind of boats do we paddle in?

We practice in a six man fiberglass outrigger canoes and race in a traditional six man koa wood canoe.

 

Do you need to purchase a paddle?

Practice paddles are provided. Eventually you would like to purchase your own paddle to race with.

 

How well do I need to swim?

You would like to be able to tread water for 10 mins. without help.

 

How much are the dues?

$160.00 per paddler. Family and Hardship plans are available. (upon request contact Kau’i Serrao at 671-4682)

 

When is the deadline for dues?

Monday, May 4, 2009 ALL paperwork, photos and dues are required for registration.
